Our Purpose
Proverbs 22:6 says "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Presenting God's word to children in an exciting, age-appropriate manner provides the opportunity to lead them into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We want to raise up children that will impact thier generation and future generations for Christ. Our goal is to equip children with the knowledge of Christ and a personal relationship with Him; a love for the Word; a desire to be in His House and in His Presence; and a passion for ministry and for lost souls.
Overview
A variety of children's programs are offered for the various services during the week. Every class is designed to meet the developmental needs of the children in the specified age group with consistent vision, common values and guidelines.
Children's Workers:
All children's workers are interviewed; trained and adult workers complete a criminal background check. Our desire is to provide quality care in a safe environment.
Nursery
Infants to two-year-olds are provided attentive and loving care in our nursery. Trained volunteers provide nursery service during our Sunday School and Sunday Morning Worship Services, and our Wednesday Midweek Service. A number is assigned to your child at check in so that you can be paged during the service if your assistance is needed with your child. The numbers flash in a LCD box located to the right and left of the screen on the platform. Please label all of your child's belongings such as diaper bag, bottles, and cups. Be sure to provide diapers and an extra change of clothes. Light snacks are provided- please alert the volunteers to any food allergies or health concerns. If your child is ill (running a fever, has vomited or had diarrhea, or has any communicable disease/illness) please do not bring him/her into the nursery.
Toddlers
Two and three year olds participate in our toddler Sunday School class and also have their own class for Sunday Morning Worship. On Wednesday Midweek Service, the toddlers participate in our Rainbows Class which is part of the Mpact Girls Clubs Program.
Preschoolers
Four and five year olds have a Sunday School class and then join the Children's Church in the Fellowship Hall for Praise and Worship during the Sunday Worship Service. After the praise and worship time, the preschoolers go to their own classroom for Bible stories, crafts, and other fun activities geared to their age level. On BGMC Sunday (2nd Sunday of each month), the preschoolers stay in Children's Church for the entire lesson to learn about missionary kids across the world. On Wednesdays, the preschoolers participate in the Mpact Girls Clubs or Royal Ranger Class geared to their age.
School Age Children
Sunday School classes are offered for all age/grade levels on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
During Sunday Morning Worship, First Kids meets in the Fellowship Hall for an exciting, multi-media program KIDMO. The service includes great music, relevant age-appropriate lessons, games, prizes, and lots of FUN for kids kindergarten - 6th grade. The second Sunday of each month is BGMC (Boys and Girls Missions Challenge) week where the kids learn about a missionary family in another country and bring their "Buddy Barrels" full of change which is sent to help the missionaries. Our kids learn about different cultures and the experiences of missionaries across the world. They learn how they can make a difference by praying for and giving to missionaries.
Wednesday Midweek Service offers the Mpact Girls Clubs and the Royal Rangers Program for boys. Each of these programs provides a variety of clubs grouped by age level where children work to earn badges and advance through different levels by completing requirements such as scripture memorization, service projects, and outdoor/camping skills. These programs run September through June. During the summer, alternative programs are offered.
Junior Bible Quiz and Bible Quiz
Bible Quiz teams are offered for children first grade through high school. The teams memorize scripture and quiz questions and compete against other churches in the Western New York section. Practice schedules vary by team. The quiz season is September through February.
All programs are designed to meet the developmental needs of the children in the specified age group with consistent vision, common values and guidelines. All children’s ministry workers are screened and trained. Our desire is to provide quality care in a safe environment.
